Nervous about tomorrow.....

Tomorrow Mae has to have a procedure done in the hospital.  She has had several UTI’s and the doctor would like to check her out and see if she has something called reflux.  That is when she goes to the bathroom and it doesn’t go all the way out but sucks back up a little and that could be what is causing the UTI’s.  If that is the case they said that she will grow out of it and they would just put her on a low dose antibiotic for about 6 months and that should get her through it.  I believe that she has gone about 2 months without an infection so I questioned whether or not they think that they should still have it done and they said yes because about the time she doesn’t have it done then she will end up getting one again and again and then it may be a little difficult to get it scheduled.

They said that it is a very simple procedure and will only take about 5 minutes but it still really scares me because they call it a surgery and they have to sedate her to have it done….so I’m sure that I will be in tears and a basket case putting her through this.

Yesterday we had her pre-op physical and the nurse asked me to put her in a gown so the doctor could check her over.  When the nurse handed me the gown Mae said, “What is that for?”  I said “You need to put it on so the doctor can look at you”  She then reluctantly agreed to put it on and once she got it on she took it right back off and said, “I not wearing that, it’s weird!!”  It cracked me up, I was about in tears laughing when the doctor came in and her gown was laying in a heap on the table and Mae was standing there in her underwear with her hands on her hips.  I told the doctor the story and she thought that it was quite comical also.
